July 2009     Transforming Public Service
www.govtechnews.co.uk

Back in September of 2008 we launched this free monthly technology update. Our primary aim at the time was to bring to your attention information and news regarding the successful deployment of new technology in the Public Sector.   At the time it was our belief that technology would become increasingly important to everyone in the Public Sector. .

Sponsored by BlackBerry from Vodafone

All services are constantly being challenged to make real gains in efficiency and increase productivity whilst improving the quality of service. Technology is a cornerstone to realising these goals.

We will continue to highlight success stories which will hopefully assist you all in understanding what is possible and make informed decisions about the way forward.

We would encourage you to review these and why not share this month’s GTN with other colleagues?  If you have received this from a friend and would like to receive your own copy, please subscribe here

Mobile working – the promise, the pain and the proof of the pudding

Go to Magna Housing Case Study

When Magna Housing Group decided to equip its field service and repair staff with mobile computing devices, the objective was to increase efficiency and improve the overall level and speed of its service.

However, making the right choice from the huge range of devices, as well as the technical capability required to integrate them with the back office housing systems, was a daunting task.

Fortunately, Magna teamed up with Handheld PCs, who provided their knowledge and expertise to ensure Magna Housing selected and implemented a solution that delivered fast and impressive benefits.
