As part of Durham County Council’s aims to introduce technology to assist customer facing staff the Council planned the Adult & Community Services Mobile Working Project.

The main aim of this project was to allow front line Social workers mobile access to back office applications, enabling them to work more efficiently and effectively while improving their work/life balance.

The Vale of Glamorgan County Council has successfully deployed  the PaperIQ digital pen solution for their Foster Care & Youth Offending Teams. 

Using the PaperIQ Solution the teams have shown how easy the Anoto Digital pen is to use and have dramatically reduced  the time taken to process important social care documentation.

Chelmer Housing Partnership has deployed a system that has overcome the drawbacks of their exisitng Electronic Job Distribution system (EJD) of lack of integration and real-time data.

Through this deployment throughput has increased by an average of one job per person, per day - a 40% increase in productivity.

By releasing capacity among the workforce, CHP were able to make further savings by spending less on contractors.

“How do you improve the Web security of remote workers without wasting precious IT resource and budget?”

This paper considers the type and severity of risk to the enterprise posed by use of the Internet by its roaming and remote workforce. It will be seen that there are many potential areas of legal and operational risk which the application of conventional solutions has failed to address. These solutions will be examined.
